Holding Hands in Public – Its A Big Deal

holding_handsSo, I noticed something the other day. Many men don’t do public displays of affection. No, I am not talking about slobbing you down in the middle of the street, or that hand to buttcheek cuff in a crowded party. I’m talking about something so simple as holding our hand. A friend blogged about this the other day.

Men, we like when you hold our hand in public. It makes us feel secure, loved, and safe. Holding your hand wards of that dude in the corner who has been eyeballing and will test you when you go to the bathroom. We like that look of jealousy in another man’s eyes and in the eyes of that sneaky chick who wants to slip you her number when you hold our hand. It screams to all would be hollerers “Yep, he/she is my boo thang/boyfriend, and we are happy.”

This also begs the question, is hand holding just for couples?  Can you and your boo thang skip through the streets holding hands…..or is that taboo because you are just “dating”.

Holding hands is a true test of a relationship or situations intimacy.  My feeling is that if you can’t hold my hand in public, either we have something to hide or we aren’t in a real relationship, and you don’t want your jump off/other boo thang/ situation to know we are dating.

So, why does it bother men to share our contentment and happiness with the world?

Men go out and cuff your woman today!

First off, this has nothing to do with feminism (oops, wrong article).

Any way, to get technical, cuffing of the arms is way a good way of saying " i like and respect you, and we are just boo thang, dating, or even good friends".
Holding hands is sign of a deeper respect or relationship. Sadly, I rarely see this. I see more couples walking with the women on the cell texting, and the brothers pulling up their pants.
I think there has been a decline in overall GQ (gentlemen quality). To see other guys get of the car, walk to a building and wait on their girl who is still in the car is a big NO NO, but no one in the situation sees a problem with it. I guess I am one of a few people out there that see this as a sign that there is no respect in the relationship or self-respect.
Holding hands is a cool thing. Don't rush it. Want for it.
