Cop Out?
Chris Brown copped a plea deal to felony assault of Rihanna the night before the Grammy Awards. Chris took the deal just moment before his prelminary hearing in the case. Rihanna was even subpoenaed to attend the hearing and was preparing to testify.
Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, said the plea deal includes five years of supervised probation and six months of community labor. Brown will be formally sentenced on Aug. 5.
Los Angeles judge expressed concern over the deal because Brown is not a California resident. However, it appears the singer will be allowed to do his community service in his home state of Virginia.
Previously, on P.O.S.H., there was some heated debate about the punishment Brown should recieve and how both his and Rihanna’s actions place the ugly truth about domestice violence in the lime light. We all saw the horrendous pictures of Rihanna’s battered face but also witnessed her recluctance to say anything about the incident.
Do you think Brown’s plea deal justifies his actions?
Do you think Rihanna copped out by allowing the plea deal to go through?
Has this case changed the face of domestic violence, meaning do you think people recognize the severity or is it something you can just get away with?
