Product Review: Herbal Essence Hello Hydration

herbal-essence-hello-hydrationLately, my hair and I have not been the best of friends. I could never find the right products to keep my thin (strands not dense) 3c/4a (straw to coffee stirrer curl pattern) hair moisturized and frizz free. In its unpressed form, my hair was dry by the end of the day and prone to knotting and tangling.

The product junkie I am kept buying and buying as each new product failed me. I also made the mistake of thinking that expensive was better. I swear every time I got a new package in the mail, I heard my hair whisper, “B%^&h please, you are on that ish again.” Nothing, and I mean, nothing would work. Then I stumbled on a blog site called Curlynikki.com. At last, products that work for my hair type!! I wanted to co-wash my hair a few times before sharing my good news.

Hello Hydration made for a great detangling conditioner. I double checked a few blog sites and product reviews. Many relaxed and natural beauties alike love this conditioner. It smells like coconut and was very thick. I slathered it on my hair while in the shower and I instantly felt the conditioner penetrating my dry and angry fro. Within minutes, I could finger comb my hair with ease. Detangling under the shower head was a breeze!!! I used my big comb and had enough slip to easily guide the comb through my tresses. There was very little hair going down the drain as well. What more could a curly girl ask for??? My hair even seemed more weighed down and shrinkage was minimal. Hallelujah for this $4.99 conditioner!!

Hello Hydration and welcome to my staples for life list!!   And Thanks CurlyNikki for the tips!!

I'm going out to try this ASAP. I found a leave-in conditioner that I like alot... so much so that I've been using it daily :-x. It's called Cantu and I get it from *gasp* Wal-mart, lol.

I will let you know how this Herbal Essences works!

Yeah, I hust started using the Cantu leave-in conditioner. How do you like it? Have you tried Nexxus Headress or Humectant? I'm trying to decide whether I wanna keep up with the Cantu or the Nexxus, since Nexxus is kinda high quality, but expensive.
  • Girl after I read this last night I put it on my to-do list for today. (I am a product junkie too!). But why was I in the aisle for like 20 minutes trying to figure out which one to get- this one, the one for colored hair, or the one for frizzy hair? lol. Anyway, I ended up getting them all because they were on sale! Can't wait to try them out. Thanks girl.
  • Hey Girl,

The one you actually want looks just like the picture and is specifically called Hello Hydration. I have never tried the other versions but have heard they do not include ingredients that work with natural hair. If you do try them let me know how they work!
  • I've been using this for awhile. I like it as a rinse out conditioner. It does do a great job at detangling.I also use the Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Leave In...

    My fellow product junkies:

I tried this conditioner and I love it!!! It leaves my hair sooo moisturized and has prevented a lot of breakage due to moisture.

As for Nexxus, I used them for a long time but would only recommend their conditioners when adding a bit of olive oil and jojoba oil to them. For me, they tend to leave my hair a little dry. Also, I only use their products when sitting under a dryer or else they really don't work. I do a wash and wear a lot of times which translates into me hardly ever using their conditioning lines anymore.

Great job, Aith! Loving the Herbal Essence!
  • Ms D:

I tried Cantu....it was alright but I am not in love with it.

As for Hello Hydration, we are on condition wash 5 and I have NEVER received so many compliments on my hair as I have in the last two weeks!!! And, it is cheap!!

This product is the truth ladies! Next blog is on what I did after washing (for the natural ladies)

This is a great conditioner!!! And it cost less than $5 and I can pick it at my local grocery store. I can't recall the last time I was able purchased hair care products at the grocery store. This is amazing
  • For me herbal products are much better to use. I also thought that expensive products are much better to use but now I prefer to use herbal products because I'm getting a lot of benefits. Now, I can save big amount of money, and I have a healthy body.
