Jennifer Hudson: It Ain’t All Airbrushing

There has been a large amount of back and forth
surrounding Jennifer Hudson’s original album cover and whether or not it was airbrushed. It appears that her record label was very concerned with her image and decided to visibly shave a few pounds off the former American Idol star. I understand the photos not being accurate but…dang couldn’t she have lost a little weight too? Why do we always assume the worst?

I believe that Jennifer is a beautiful girl and can’t understand why her record label felt the need to airbrush her cover. We already know what size she is and have seen her in Dream Girls and Sex in the City. Her weight is no surprise, a good portion of her size comes from her breasts. (We all know there is nada you can do about that aside from surgery). It appears she has fallen victim to the Hollywood pressure to be super tiny. Her label has since changed the cover and sent out different promo photos (see below)

P.O.S.H. has already said if your thick and healthy so be it. If you work out and eat right high five to you. Why is everyone taking issue with the fact the girl is genuinely losing weight. Now I KNOW she isn’t as small as in the airbrushed photos but she isn’t her American Idol/Dream Girls weight. During an Oprah interview, Hudson states she is losing weight the natural way. She wakes up at 4:00AM to run for an hour, followed by an hour long workout in the gym with her trainer.

Why doesn’t the black community congratulate weight loss? Its like if your not big or suffering from some kind of ailment we don’t love you anymore. The same thing happened to Toccara. All over the net there is negative chatter still calling both of them big…..or asking why they lost the weight and should still remain unhealthy. People were all in an uproar that she was firming it up. Sometimes a change is needed and weight loss, better eating habits, and a healthy lifestyle are always good looks in my book.

JHud I say keep at it girl…shake them haters off and tell them to go eat a biscuit.

Nobody gave skinny Luther any love….look where we are now……

    Hey there!

They have definitely made Jennifer about 30 pounds lighter.... and I am not saying she hasn't lost about 10 pounds since she won her Oscar but this photo makes her look like she's about a size eight....and um... Jennifer is not THERE right now....

    It's a nice photo though...

    Peace, blessings and DUNAMIS!

I thought the same thing: why couldn't it be that she's just lost weight, when I saw a post related to this on another blog.

I've lost a good bit of weight, due to cutting calories and exercise, and I would hate if people thought that I got "photo-shopped", or had gastric bypass, or I'm sick/starving myself, esp. as hard as I work out in the gym and the walking trail, even when I don't want to LOL!!

We need to learn to congratulate instead of hate. What, do people want her to just stay overweight?? Possibly...so they can say/think: "Hey, she may be rich and famous, and an Oscar winner, but she's still overweight." Sad, but I know there are people out there that will say it.

Regardless, I love J.Hud, and I WILL be buying her CD on Sept. 30, no matter what size she is!!

Personally, I waited. I never like feeling the fool so when I feel I don't know, I shut it up. I thought it was airbrushed as well but even then, with my knowledge of design - illustrator and photoshop, I knew it would take A LOT of work or a complete head change. So, either she lost weight + had a little photoshop done or someone went through a lot of trouble. LOL. I opted to wait until I actually saw her video because it be unfeasible to do that kind of work in the video unless they just didn't show her at all lol.

I saw the video with her prominently displayed new figure and I got mad because I am trying to lose weight too. LOL. I wouldn't be surprised if they did a little photoshop work on the album cover. But, it's nothing as drastic as could be imagined.

Anyway, I think the hate coming from people in general is two-fold. First of all, most people don't know how difficult and how much time and money it takes to do that kind of work. If it was easy, then there would be so many ugly ass people online. You've got to be an artist, understand the human form and then you've got to be proficient in the program at the expert level. You've gotta get the lighting, shading, coloring, etc etc etc. It's hard work. LOL.

Then there's just your typical hate. You have a lot of people who'd rather believe that she's still that tubby chick from Idol than a woman who put in a lot of work, with help of course. But it aint impossible.

She did the damn thing. I am proud of her. I have a good healthy envy of her, curiosity even. I just want to know what she did to drop those pounds. I am sure it was something outside of my budget but it's all good to know. There are definitely some simple small things she's incorporated into her daily routine that we all can benefit from like walking up to the second floor instead of waiting for the elevator LOL.
